Employee Spotlight – Darren Alix
Darren Alix, Service Technician, 9 years – Swift Current
Employee Spotlight, Darren Alix, has been working at Redhead Equipment in Swift Current for just over 9 years, as a Service Technician on the Truck and Construction side. When talking with Darren you get the feeling that he’s a kid at heart. When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up Darren said, “I’m not sure yet what I want to be when I grow up, but I’ll do this in the meantime.” Darren also said if he could have any superpower he would want to be like Superman, “stronger than steel!”
Darren is a problem solver. He’s always willing to help a customer or co-worker. Darren accredits his longevity at Redhead Equipment with the company having a good work/life balance and being accommodating. “The management is very understanding and will help you out, like if you have a sick kid at home,” Darren says.
Darren goes on to say that Redhead Equipment has a community feel, everyone knows everyone, and it’s a great group of people. Darren says each day is different as a Service Technician, which keeps him on his toes. One day you could be doing oil changes or transmission swaps, and another day could be a total rebuild. “You might spend most of your days working on trucks, but the problems are always different, and sometimes you get some really interesting things,” Darren says.
Working as a Service Technician is a challenging job. Darren works hard to stay up to date with new equipment and new products. “Redhead Equipment has adapted with the times and adapted to new brands,” Darren says. He believes this is what has influenced the longevity of Redhead Equipment.

Favorite place to travel: Darren likes traveling to B.C. in the winter.
